Pastor Opening

We as Converge International Fellowship Darmstadt are looking for a new pastor who will lead, serve and help our church to grow into our next phase of life.

Our church: Converge International Fellowship (CIF) is an English-speaking international church, located in Darmstadt, Germany.  We are a vibrant and diverse community of worshippers from across six continents, representing a wide range of occupations, life experiences, and denominational backgrounds.  We are a mix of young adults, students, families and local individuals. For many, English is their second or even third language.

United by a shared passion for knowing, following, and sharing Jesus Christ together, our vision is to be a church that welcomes people from all cultural backgrounds to an English-speaking home-away-from-home, where Jesus Christ transforms lives in Darmstadt and beyond.  Like many other international churches, we have a relatively high congregational turnover, linked to the duration of studies or work contracts. We see new people continually joining the church.

We are a member of the International Baptist Convention (IBC) and the German Baptist Union (Bund EFG). Established in 2012, we have grown from a pioneer church to an established congregation with various ministries developed and several new ministry opportunities. After more than a year without a full-time pastor, we are now praying and looking for a new pastor to lead, serve, and guide our church.

Our Sunday service is at 17:00 in the premises of the German Baptist Church of Darmstadt with an average of 50 people attending. During the service, we offer children’s church and a nursery. Throughout the week we have several Bible study groups meeting in different homes and online. We also plan different activities and outreach events.  We want to not only grow in numbers, but grow in our faith and into Christ’s character.

The city: Darmstadt is a leading “City of Science” in the Rhine-Main region of Germany. It is renowned for its strong research landscape and innovative industries.  This includes the global chemical/pharmaceutical company Merck, headquartered here, and the GSI Centre for Heavy Ion Research, where the element darmstadtium was discovered. The city is also home to prestigious institutions such as the Technical University of Darmstadt, the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC), and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), offering an international and future-oriented environment.

Darmstadt is a modern, fast-growing city of 160,000+ people. Although heavily destroyed in WWII, Darmstadt has developed a strong and vibrant economy. It has a strong architectural history, with several impressive buildings, especially from the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) era.  There are many internationals working in Darmstadt, while approximately 40,000 students also study at the various universities.

In addition, Darmstadt provides a high quality of life with green spaces, cultural diversity, and excellent connectivity to Frankfurt am Main and its international airport.

The position: Our primary guidelines in searching for our new pastor are found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 4:6-15; and Titus 1:6-9.
